Founder of Living Well Naturopathy, Biomedical Scientist and Clinical Naturopath (AdvDip (Bus), BBSc, MNatMed)

Meet April

April holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Griffith University) and a Master of Naturopathic Medicine (Southern Cross University), completing over 6 years of tertiary education. After working in animal studies and clinical trial research, she initially planned to pursue conventional medicine before discovering naturopathy – the perfect alignment of scientific evidence with the natural healing principles she'd intuitively followed since childhood. From making turmeric and honey face masks to creating concoctions of ‘health food's’ that she’s not too sure deserved the title of a smoothie, April's passion for natural health found its professional framework.

During her teenage years, she swung too far in the other direction – becoming overly restrictive with food and rigid with wellness routines and exercise. The journey back to balanced, sustainable wellness taught her a crucial truth: the nervous system governs every aspect of health, and no amount of "perfect" eating or supplementation can compensate for chronic stress and restriction. This lived experience ensures her treatment plans address root causes while supporting nervous system regulation – because sustainable healing requires both.

April is particularly passionate about getting to the root cause of thyroid dysfunction, reproductive disorders, fertility and preconception care, mental health concerns and skin conditions – especially acne. Having personally navigated endometriosis and PCOS, she brings both clinical expertise and genuine lived experience to supporting women through complex hormonal conditions. She also lived with cystic acne for years, trying every approach – cleansers, topicals, antibiotics, even Roaccutane. While Roaccutane initially worked, the acne returned tenfold once she stopped. It wasn't until she addressed the root cause that she found lasting clarity and sustained clear skin. This personal journey reinforced what she knows clinically: true healing doesn't come from suppressing symptoms, but from understanding and treating what's driving them.

April is highly focused on pathology interpretation, where naturopathy excels by diving deeper into optimal ranges for health rather than just disease screening. She uses this nuanced approach alongside functional testing like SIBO breath tests, DUTCH hormone panels, microbiome mapping and comprehensive blood analysis to uncover root causes conventional medicine often overlooks.

Importantly, April is realistic about the world we live in. Treatment plans are adapted to your unique health needs, lifestyle, preferences and practical constraints. She understands that sustainable wellness comes from meeting you where you're at – not prescribing unattainable ideals. Education is woven into every consultation: you'll gain genuine understanding of what's happening in your body and why, alongside practical foundations for lasting health that fit your real life.

Outside the clinic, April prioritises work-life balance – something she believes is essential for both practitioner and patient wellbeing. She spent 2 years working and living in Canada, where her love for travel and experiencing different cultures deepened. Settling back on the Gold Coast, where she was born and raised, provides the perfect balance of coastal lifestyle and community. Living close to the beach means everyday life feels like a holiday, embodying the wellness and vitality she encourages in her patients. April believes that health isn't just about what happens in consultations – it's about creating a life you genuinely love living.
